Taylor Swift raises $750,000 for tornado victims

Country music starlet Taylor Swift has thanked her fans for helping to raise funds for the victims of the tornadoes in the US. On Saturday, Taylor raised $750,000 for the Community Foundation of Tennessee and the recent tornado victims by opening her final Speak Now dress rehearsal at the Bridgestone Arena to the public and streaming some of the performance online. She called the Nashville, Tennessee event Speak Now, Help Now and says she really enjoyed the night. The 21-year-old told Access Hollywood: "It was so wonderful. "It was almost like playing our first show because were playing for 13,000 people and it is the whole show the way we would do the last dress rehearsal and I'm just so excited that we got to raise $750,000 dollars for the victims of the tornadoes." Swift also said she was touched by people's generosity. She added: "It was such a wonderful night and I'll never forget it - the fact that that many people on last minute's notice wanted to come out and pay for their tickets and donate that money to them." Raising $750,000 wasn't Taylor's only big accomplishment over this past weekend. The Story Of Us singer also took home three major Billboard awards including Top Country Artist, Top Country Album for Speak Now, and the Top 200 Albums Award.

Taylor Swifts tornado troubles

Country music starlet Taylor Swift "had to hide" from tornadoes while she was shooting her new music video, Story Of Us, according to reports. The 21-year-old singer was shooting scenes for the video at Vanderbilt University, which is located near her home in Nashville, Tennessee. But filming was interrupted due to the dangerous weather conditions wreaking havoc in the area. According to MTV, she said: "There were a few complications. This was actually when a bunch of tornadoes were hitting Nashville." She added: "We had to hide. All of us, we had to hide in a room where there were no windows, so that was a little bit crazy.

Taylor Swift's tour 'inspired by Cirque du Soleil'

Taylor Swift has revealed that her forthcoming tour has been inspired by Cirque du Soleil. The 21-year-old country singer takes to the road for the North American leg of her Speak Now tour on Friday, May 27, and said that she has designed her show to mimic the work of the Canadian circus troupe. She told People magazine that fans can expect to see aerialists, dancers, and rainbow-coloured glow sticks. "It's very theatrical. (It's) all about portraying songs like I see them in my head," she explained. "With all the pyro and lighting I've always wanted on tour, it's like a dream come true."

Taylor Swift wrote a song in an airport toilet

Country music starlet Taylor Swift has proved that she can literally write a song anywhere as she admits she once penned some lyrics in an airport bathroom. The Story of Us singer says an idea for a tune can come to her at any time, so she has to quickly write her ideas down before she forgets them. She told MTV: "The weirdest place I have ever written a song is probably in an airport, and I got an idea so fast that I just had to run to the bathroom at the airport, grab a paper towel and write lyrics on the paper towel. I still have it. I still have it in a box in my room." The 21-year-old says she has already begun working on the follow-up to her current album Speak Now. Taylor added: "I was in Madrid, and I was in my hotel room all day. And I was going through this crazy, emotional thing and I wrote a song about it and it will probably be on the next record. "I'm telling you that. I'll tell you the title afterwards."

Taylor Swift has turned paparazzi and holds a camera for the cover of Australia's Girlfriend magazine. Taylor, wearing a black dress, was chosen as the mag's cover star after its readers voted her as their most popular celebrity. Inside the magazine, Taylor explains her fascination with "unlucky" number 13. "I paint this [13] on my hand before every show because 13 is my lucky number — for a lot of reasons," she says. "I was born on the 13th. I turned 13 on Friday the 13th. My first album went gold in 13 weeks. My first number one song had a 13-second intro. "Every time I've won an award I've been seated in either the 13th seat, the 13th row, the 13th section or row M, which is the 13th letter."
